The President Office is preparing a full media campaign on the API. They started with issuing the API brochure in the Israeli newspapers, but they also want to extend the plan to include International and Palestinian audience as well. The idea is to have set of interviews dedicated towards explaining what is the API is all about, and issue paid ads in the newspapers. Soon you will see the API brochure in the Guardian, Independent, and French newspapers as well (and soon US newspapers). The President is fully convinced that it is now the right time to push for this issue, especially with Peres recent comments and the article that appeared in the Sunday Times about Obama?s intention to endorse the API.
I mentioned to the PO that we have done work on the API in terms of messaging and TPs, and they wanted us to be onboard with this effort.
The President is meeting today with Head of the Apostolic Delegation (Archbishop Antonio Franco); very recently, a letter was sent by the head of the Presidential Committee on Christian Affairs concerning Israel?s revocation of Jerusalemite ID?s and how does that affect the Christian presence in the city, and the letter asked the Vatican to intervene.
On Saturday the President is going to Nablus to open the PIC there. This is his first visit since his election campaign in 2004/5. The President will be also visiting the Salfit governorate as well.
On the 23 and 24th there will be the PLO Central Council Meeting
26th the Arab League Foreign Ministers meeting, where Dr. Saeb is attend on behalf of the President. Dr. Rafiq is pushing of having the President attend this meeting, as it is a very important meeting.
On the 27th the Italian President is visiting Ramallah and then the President is leaving to Qatar. I tried to convince the PO that it is vital that the President meet with the board of Al Jazeera; arguing that part of the problem the President is having with Al Jazeera is the lack of communication.
That?s it for today;
